wplace tools: a workbench for people who paint pixels

a workbench, not a client

wplace is a place where you spend an hour choosing a color and then another doing arithmetic. i use it, and i kept leaving the canvas to look for a theme or convert a coordinate. so i built the small tools i wanted next to the canvas, not inside it.

wplace tools is not a client. it does not paint for you, touch the map, or load pixels in your place. it is the bench before and after: the repetitive part happens there, so you can go back to the part that needs your eyes.

it lives at wplacepixels.web.app, it is a web app because the phone is where a lot of this happens, and because nobody should have to install anything to try it.

what is already there

the theme creator is the center of the app: build a palette, preview it on the map, keep a grid of the themes you use. changing a theme should not mean repeating the same clicks every session.

the avatar frame marketplace is frames for the pixel character, not social icons or profile squares. upload one, search the ones already there, see what other people made. the structure works; the shelves are still mostly empty, honest for a marketplace that just opened.

the nameless viewer shows a map in its current state without the interactive client: a canvas and a title, minimal.

two tools still on the roadmap

the calculator and the converter have a place in the menu and no page yet. they are not forgotten links: they are the next two pieces, and they come first because the pattern is known. counting levels and converting coordinates are exactly the moments you leave the creative work.

until they are published, the menu keeps showing where they will live. i prefer an honest empty place to a link that pretends to work.

why a web app

because anyone with a browser can use it, it works on a phone, and adding a page does not require a release. the app is small on purpose: it removes steps, it does not add a platform.

if you paint on wplace and one of these steps is still manual for you, tell me which one. that is the only metric i care about, and it is not a number.

are the calculator and the converter broken?

no, they are not published yet. the menu entries exist to reserve the place, and the pages will arrive when they are finished.

do i need to install anything?

no. it runs in the browser, on desktop and phone. the theme creator asks you to log in only to save a theme.
