website for salons and beauticians: prices, time, booking
business · 2026-10-29 · 4 min
One client books at eleven at night, after putting the children to bed. Another calls while you have gloves on and colour in your hair. If the site is only a phone number, you lose the first without knowing and you call the second back when she has already booked elsewhere.
the price list starts with time
A useful list says three things per treatment: what it includes, how long it takes, and whether a first appointment needs longer. A cut with wash and blow-dry is not the same as a cut, and colour on long hair doubles the time. For beauty work: single session or a course, which machine, how many sessions make sense. If the price depends on hair length or the area, say what it depends on instead of a flat figure you will not honour. Put the allergy test for tint, extensions and henna on the site too: it has to be done in advance.
booking, not a contact form
A form that collects requests is not a booking: someone has to answer, and if you answer three hours later she has already called another salon. If you use a booking system, enter the real duration of each service and a margin between appointments, or the day slides by eleven. For a new client, leave a longer slot for the consultation: it is time you get back in fewer questions and fewer changes of mind.
before and after, with consent
Photos work when they show the kind of job you want to do again, with the same light in every shot. Before publishing you need written consent, and a yes given while you stand there with a hairdryer is not enough: say where the photo will appear, whether the face is visible, and for how long. If a client does not want to appear, show the work without the face or do not show it at all. No retouching that changes the result, no promises about outcomes. The guide to galleries covers how to organise them.
cancellations and what to remove
The cancellation policy goes in plain words: how much notice, what happens if someone does not show, how to cancel. Put it where people book, not at the bottom of the terms. Remove the spa photos with rolled towels and the line about well-being at three hundred and sixty degrees. This week, write the duration next to every service and choose ten photos with signed consent.
faq
do i need online booking?
You need it if you answer the phone with your hands busy, which is almost always. If volume is low, a form with a preferred date and a promise to reply the same day is enough. What does not work is a form that looks like a booking.
can i post client photos?
Only with written consent stating where they are published and whether the face is recognisable. Consent can be withdrawn, and that has to be respected immediately. A photo without consent is a risk no amount of likes is worth.
how much notice to cancel?
You decide, but it has to be written before, not argued after. Two days is a common and understandable rule; if you ask for more, explain why. Put the sentence in the confirmation, not only on the site.
