can i edit my website from my phone? yes, with limits

yes. wordpress, wix, squarespace and shopify all have mobile apps or mobile-friendly admin screens, and a static site can be edited from a browser through github or a headless cms. what changes on a phone is not whether you can edit, but what you should edit there.
what works well
text corrections, opening hours, a phone number, a price, a photo from your camera roll, publishing a post you wrote earlier. these are small, bounded changes where the phone is actually the better tool, because the photo is already there.
publishing from the wordpress app, editing a page in wix, marking an order as shipped in shopify: all fine. the apps are slower than a laptop and the preview is less accurate, but the operations are simple enough that the risk is low.
what does not
layout. columns, spacing, a hero that needs to look right at three widths — these need a real screen and a pointer. editing them on a phone is how a section ends up with a button overlapping a heading on desktop.
code, plugin updates, theme changes, redirects. one wrong tap in a plugin screen can take a site down, and debugging it on a 6-inch screen with no console is not a plan.
also, large uploads: a phone photo is 4 mb, and the app will happily upload it at full size. resize first, or the page you fixed on the train will be slower than before.
the safer setup
two-factor authentication on the admin account, and a password manager rather than a password you type on a phone keyboard in public. an editor account, not an administrator account, for the person who only changes text.
if the site matters, a staging copy is worth it: change there, look at it on a desktop, then publish. many hosts include one; on wordpress it is a plugin or a hosting feature.
and a rule that has saved me more than once: on a phone, publish text and photos. leave structure for the desk.
faq
is the wordpress app safe?
it uses the same login as the site, so it is as safe as that account. use two-factor authentication, keep the app updated, and do not log in over an open wifi network you do not trust.
can i upload photos from my phone?
yes, and that is the best use of mobile editing. resize or compress before uploading if the app does not do it for you.
do i need a laptop to change a price?
no. a price is text, and text is exactly what phones are good at. check it on a desktop later if the number appears in more than one place.
